A OGEM mud gun is a device used to agitate drilling mud on a drilling rig. More of a nozzle than a gun, a mud gun is connected to a pump to circulate the drilling mud and prevent the solids from settling in the drilling mud tank. The mud is mixed by being sucked into a pipe by a powerful pump and expelled back into the mud tank by being pushed through the nozzle of the mud gun. The process is similar to how a water jet works on a power washer.
The mud gun can be classified as high pressure type and low pressure type. The high pressure mud gun has a small displacement and a high pressure. The liquid pressure class supplied by the drilling pump is about 4-6Mpa. The low pressure mud gun has a low pressure and a huge displacement. The liquid pressure class supplied by the drilling pump is about 0.2- 0.3Mpa. But the aim of using the two types of the mud gun is to mix the drilling fluid, the quantity should be decided according to the quantity of agitator.
