In oilfield drilling mud process, mud cleaner is
important equipment. Mud cleaner is also called mud conditioner or
shaker cleaner.
Oilfield mud cleaner general
- Some people said mud cleaner is firstly invented by a German in the late 1800s. Nowadays, thousand years later, the mud cleaner cannot be only used in oilfield mud process but also in other drilling fluid process, including HDD, Pilling, tunneling, shielding, CSM exploration, etc.
- A mud cleaner is can be desander?and/or desilters mounted over a shaker with fine screen. Drilling mud is fed to the inlet of the hydrocyclone?(desander and desilter) to separate particles and the underflow passes to the fine screen mesh where in particles larger than barite?are discarded and thrown away.
Mud cleaner desilter process and purpose
1. In most drilling operations, Desilter cone mud
cleaner will be mounted on mud tanks after desander or combine desander
together as cleaner set after shale shaker and vacuum degasser.
2. We’ll match charging pump for feeding drilling mud to
desilter cones achieve further separation or purification.?The weighted
mud under pump pressure or force flows to the inlet head section of the
desilter entering the hydrocyclones for separation of particles.
3. Mud leaving the underflow is further screened with
fine mesh to separate larger particles allowing only barite size
particles to pass through the screen returning and recovering then the
clean mud.
4. Usually, if we drill shallow well or we don’t drill
oil and gas well, after desilter process, we don’t need further step for
example, the decanter centrifuge. Since, desilter can get solids larger
than 15 microns out of drilling fluid.
5. Our purpose of the desilter?or?mud cleaner?operation
is to remove drilled solids larger than barite. Solids larger than 15-46
micrometers can be removed by the desilter cones before the viscosity
builds up.

The polyurethane material provides high durability and
excellent anti-corrosive feature. Commonly, we adapt 4″ desilte cone.
Sometimes, clients also request 2″ cones to process small quantity
drilling mud with finer particles
To provide convenience on cones replacement, more and
more desilter cone manufacturer begins producing clamped type desilter
cone instead of former flange type cones.
