Commonly Used Solids Control Methods

In general, there are five methods for solids control: diluted method, substitution method,the natural sedimentation method, chemical precipitation method and mechanical clearance method.

Diluted method: is to maintain solid content remained unchanged, is added into the drilling fluid with high solid content in the water or other liquid diluted into thin,low solid content drilling fluid (should also be drilling fluid adding chemical at a low solid content).

Replacement method: in order to keep the total volume of drilling fluid, the drilling fluid with high solid content release part, and then in the treatment solution for the equal and low solid mud, mixing after use. Treatment agent solution and low solid mud, mixing after use.

Natural sedimentation method: return drilling fluid in well out back in the ground loop processes within the well drilling fluid in the surface circulation process,because the volume of liquid pool surface drilling fluid, low flow rate, the cuttings in drilling fluid under the action of gravity settling in the bottom and are separated,the use of upper reentry well circulation drilling liquid.

Chemical precipitation method: join in the drilling fluid is a chemical precipitation,agent enables small cuttings dispersion of a contact these chemicals produce flocculation forming larger particles, and the rapid subsidence.

Mechanical cleaning method: the use of solids control system forced the removal of harmful solid phase.
