Many visitors come to our website and gone, they generally know OGEM as a drilling mud cleaning specialist, but little learn what is drilling mud. Hereby, we would like to make de brief introduction for the drilling mud and how we clean it by solids control equipments.

What is drilling mud

Drilling mud is one type of drilling fluids in liquid state used in geotechnical engineering to aid the drilling of boreholes into the earth. Often used while drilling oil and natural gas wells and on exploration drilling rigs. Even in some simpler boreholes, such as water well, it is also used. What we should pay great attention to is that drilling mud does not equals drilling fluids. For besides the liquids drilling mud, drilling fluids still include non-aqueous muds which usually called oil-based mud, and gaseous drilling fluid, in which a wide range of gases can be used.
Drilling mud function

The main functions of drilling mud include providing hydrostatic pressure to prevent formation fluids from entering into the well bore, keeping the drill bit cool and clean during drilling, carrying out drill cuttings, and suspending the drill cuttings while drilling is paused and when the drilling assembly is brought in and out of the hole. The drilling mud used for a particular job is selected to avoid formation damage and to limit corrosion.
What We Do

As a drilling mud cleaing specialist, we use 4 class solids control equipment to cleaning the drilling mud:

> The first class, also the core eequipment in the complete system, is shale shaker.  The particles with the size of more than 76 microns in the mud could be separated out.
> The second class is the desander, it could separate the solids with the size more than 47 microns.
> The particles size more 15 microns is processing by the desilter which is aften the third class equipment.
> Desander and desilter could be combined as the compressed mud cleaner equipment.
> Decanter centrifugal could separate the solids with the size more than 2 microns by using the centrifugal sedimentation principle.

We call the complete treatment course as solids control and the prupose is to separate the solids phase from drilling mud. After the 4 class equipments treatment, the drilling mud could be re-pumped into the drill tip for the recycling or re-configured by the jet mud mixer waiting for other uses.
