How is 4K oil drilling fluid system designed?

Oil drilling or gas well drilling include many depth. Such as 1000m, 2000m, 3000m, 4000m, 5000m, 7000m, 9000m, even 12000m. The depth depends on certain geology and earth property. We usually use “K” stands for 1000m. Then we can find there are 1K oil rig, 4K rig, or 7K oil well, etc.

4K oil drilling fluid system design

The main configuration of 4K oil drilling fluid system include mud tanks, shale shaker, hydrocyclone separators or the mud cleaner assembly, jet mixing unit, shearing pump, feeding pump. Listed are necessary parts for whole fluid system. Then optional equipments including middle speed decanter centrifuge, and vacuum degasser.

Solids control system

Detail configuration on mud equipment and system:

Basic item is mud tank. The mud tanks have totally at least 260m3 capacity. The processing tanks volume should be not less than 180m3, while storage tank is 80m3 at least. Then, the first phase solids control equipment shale shaker.

OGEM adopted linear motion shaker. Its treating capacity is over 180m3/h(792GPM). In this system, we set 2 shakers totally treat 1584GPM drilling mud. We also can design them as dual tandem shaker.

Vacuum degasser is usually configured after shaker. We kindly suggest user select one vacuum degasser holding 180m3/h drilling fluid flow rate. This can help us separate a little invaded gas out of degasser. Keep our job site safe. This vacuum degasser doesn’t request centrifugal feeding pump. It’s compact and easy to operate.

Subsequent equipments can be separated hydrocyclone separator or assembly mud cleaner. Anyhow, the treating capacity is not lower than 180m3/h. Under this configuration, we can get efficient drilling fluid purification and excellent performance. If required by clients, decanting centrifuge will be set after hydrocyclone desilter or mud cleaner.

Centrifuge pump will transfer drilling fluid from desilter room to centrifuge. It’s middle speed centrifuge with 176GPM capacity get rid of 5~7microns solid. Drilling fluid after processed by decanter centrifuge, will be clean mud can be used again.

When it come to clean mud room or storage tank, we’ll operate jet mixing unit to mix drilling fluid evenly. Furthermore, mud hopper pump can weight drilling fluid balance property.

The shearing pump, is another centrifugal pump to shear drilling mud with large block. It’s another kind of drilling fluid mixture. Ensure good mud property and drilling fluid flow smoothly. The construction is over head belt style.

Actually, the feeding pump, or mud cleaner transfer pump are all horizontal centrifugal pumps. All pumps including transfer pump, trip pump, etc. These pumps should be suitable to whole system capacity. Not less than 180m3/h or even 200m3/h
