Hydrocyclone Type
According to the seperation particle type and the size, we could sort the hydrocyclone to Desander hydrocyclone and Desilter hydrocyclone. Of course, the size of these 2 type hydrocyclone is also different. The smaller is desilter cyclone, it could be divided into 3 parts – spiral case, cone-shaped canister, Regulating mouth for bottom flow. For the Desander hydrocyclone, the cone-shaped canister is divided into upper and lower 2 parts for the larger body.
Hydrocyclone Location
As mentioned above, hydrocyclone is installed on the desander and desilter. Sometimes, combining the desander hydrocyclone, desilter hydrocyclone and a underflow shaker, we could work out an equipment called mud cleaner.
Hydrocyclone Material
Hydrocyclones can be made of metal (mostly steel), ceramic or plastic (such as polyurethane, polypropylene, or other types). Metal or ceramic hydrocyclones are used for situations requiring more strength, or durability in terms of heat or pressure. When there is an occurrence of much abrasion (such as occurs with sand particles) polyurethane performs better than metals or ceramics. Metal lined with polyurethane is used in cases of combined abrasion and high pressure.
