Mud Agitators and Guns for Oil/Gas Drilling Solids Control System

Mud agitators and gusn are vital equipments used in solids control system. both are used inside the mud tank. The mud agitator is mounted on the surface of Mud Tank and stirs the mud much like a blender. Properly sized agitators keep the active mud system moving when the mud pumps are disengated and will prevent the pits from “gelling”.When drilling with weighted mud,Mud agitator will keep the weighting agents in suspension and minimize any tendencies for solids to settle in corners or dead spots. Mud guns are used as supplemental or primary mixing in mud tanks depending on the number being used and the pit size. Mostly they are used in tank corners to keep solids from settling.sometimes the mud gun in the solids control system is also used for transfering mud from compartment to compartment.

Mud Agitator

(1) Impeller and shaft
Impellers are availabe in Diameters ranging from 600mm to 1200mm to meet the needs of various size mud tanks. Generally the impeller diameter is determined by the size of tnak. two types impeller for option. Straight balde impeller and canted impeller.Shaft lenght is dtermined by tank depth.
(2)Gear Drive
Gear reduction unit of GN mud agitator have reduction ratio of 25:1. The reduction achieved by worm gear drive. the gear box assembly consist of one-piece weather proof rigid gear housing,Gears,shaft,bearings and seals. the gear box is suitale for horizontal input and vertically downard output.
(3)Coupling
The rigid coupling is simple and made of SS and compact in construction transmiting the torque through high tensile strength bolts.
(4)Mounting Skid
The motor and gear box are mounted on a skid that fabricated from high-grade structural steel.the skid is designed for maximum rigidity,strudiness,suitably reinforced and free from any flaws and defects.
(5)Electric Motor
GN mud agitator is operated by a 3-phase induction motor.Drive motor range from 5 to 30 HP. Explosion-proof motor suitable for Zone I and II and Gas Group I,II A and II B.
