How to Install and Maintain a Desander

The desander is a solid control equipment of second stage configured in the solid phase controlling system of drilling fluid, with a composite unit rotational de-sander and vibrating sieve. These instructions mainly deal with the rotational de-sander. The rotational de-sander is designed according to principle of granule settlement and the drilling fluid rotationally enters along the inner wall of the swirler through pressure and velocity generated by a sand pump to a small extent. The thicker granules are going down in spiral mode along the inner wall of swirler under effect of centrifugal force and gravity, and discharged from the bottom exit. The discharged granules are separated on the close-mesh sieve, with the rest of the medium going up in a spiral mode through the swirler to enter into the third separating plant from the overflow mouth for further decontaminating.
Steps
1 Note what the de-sander is consists of:
vibrating sieve,
distributary manifold and swirler, etc.
It has a flow-in pipe and overflow pipe, symmetrically structured for both ends to provide installation with convenience.
With the overflow pipe for the desilter leading to the other drilling fluid tank by an 8" rubber hose, the slurry exit of the sand pump and the flow-in pipe of de-sander is connected with a 6" rubber hose.
2 Check the angle. Under the ideal working conditions, the spouting angle at the bottom will be 20°~30°.
3 Keep clean. No load running should be going for 5~10 minutes beyond which, the pump should be stopped from running, and the screen cloth cleanly washed in clear water. It is especially important to do so when the slurry has heavy viscosity to be processed. The close-mesh screen for processing will be impacted because the mesh is blocked by sticky substances and silver sand.
4 Check for wear. After the equipment has run up to 4000 hours, the wearing parts (including upper cone-shaped canister and body case of the swirler, etc.) should be checked or replaced.
